Mission District, San Francisco | Where To Eat, See, & Play

Mission District has many great restaurants, bars, and sights that I have come to love and continue to support! The creation of this list stemmed from thinking about where some of my best memories in Mission District were! In no particular order, here are some of the my favorite spots in Mission District! This will hopefully inspire you to venture to a new spot!

Eat in Mission District

Tacolicious: This is an upscale Mexican restaurant in Mission District. There are multiple locations in the city, and I would say that the ambiance in this location sets it apart. I recommend the chicken and pork tacos, as well as the classic margarita pitcher!

Farmhouse Thai: This Mission District place is raved about from all over! The Thai restaurant is known for their vibrant dining interior as well as their lively dining experience. For birthdays, this place does a fun show to celebrate the birthday person. In terms of ordering, the restaurant is all about family style portions so that everyone can try a little bit of everything!

Limon Rotisserie: I absolutely love this place! The flavors are so unique and traditional to classic Peruvian dishes. For dine-in seating, I recommend getting a reservation at least one week in advance. I recommend getting ceviche to start, as it is always fresh and flavorful. Then, for hot plates, I have tried them all and believe they are all worth trying! I appreciate that you can choose between a 1/4 chicken, 1/2 chicken or whole chicken while ordering.

Flour + Water: This Mission District restaurant is definitely one of the most talk about spots in San Francisco! It is an Italian restaurant that prides itself on unique and explosive flavors in all of their dishes. Patrons can order the “tasting menu” which taking you through many of their favorite dishes on the menu for $65 which is a great price! For appetizers I recommend the oxtail and white bean soup. For pizza, I recommend the Salsccica and the Marghertia. For the pasta, I recommend the duck raviolini and the entree I recommend the braised pork shoulder.

See in Mission District

Dolores Park: arguably the most lively park in all of San Francisco! At Dolores Park, you will see it all: vendors, artists, magicians, pets, and more. It gets packed every weekend, even on the not-so-warm days. In the summer, it is a dream! You can sunbathe, sit and read, listen to music, drink with friends, and play games! Oh, and I can’t forget the beautiful skyline view you see from the top of the park! I’ve had some of my best city memories here and a park like this makes me forget I am even in a city! If you are visiting, this is a must-see!

Clarion Alley: This is a very artsy street in the Mission District. Local street artists come to showcase their talents on the building walls. This is a popular spot to walk through, bask in the unique artwork, and take pictures!

Mission Dolores Basilica: This is a beautiful church a block away from Dolores park. They have weekly mass open to all patrons!

Tartine Bakery: This is a well-known bakery. Their staple items are all assortments of bread, tarts, cookies, and cakes! I have been only once, but I would surely say that it is worth a visit!

Where to Play

Southern Pacific Brewing: This is a lively brewery offering a full food menu. The property is very large as well, and spans two floors of seating space. This spot is great for happy hour, birthday parties, and weekend hangouts.

Zeitgeist: This is a Mission District dive bar with a lot of character. It is pretty hidden and hard to decipher from the outside, but once inside, it is a large outdoor beer garden and has a long list of local beers on tap. If you want a chill night out, this is your spot.

Urban Putt: This Mission District spot is a fun place to drink along with partaking in an activity. You can play mini golf in their beautifully crafted hole-in-one indoor golf course, walk upstairs to have food, sit at the downstairs bar for a drink, or all three! It’s a great date spot and social hangout spot.
